The #1 choice for millions of homeowners

#1 window choice for millions of homeowners

Andersen’s 400 Series windows are made from solid wood clad in vinyl, as part of Andersen’s patented Perma-Shield® system. Installation is quick and the windows look new for years to come!

400 Series windows make smart financial sense, too. According to Remodeling Magazine, vinyl window replacements have a resale value of 67%. Even better, choosing Andersen’s 400 Series may lead to better rates than the national average. A recent survey of homeowners and realtors showed that “Andersen products increase the value of a home by at least 10%.”

Materials

Vinyl

Andersen’s 400 Series uses rigid vinyl cladding as part of the company’s exclusive Perma-Shield® system. By cladding rigid vinyl around a solid wood core, the 400 Series boasts superior strength to windows made of vinyl alone. As the most popular material for windows in the United States, vinyl is affordable, durable, and virtually maintenance-free.

With Andersen’s 400 Series, you can choose from 7 exterior color options that will withstand wear and tear while adding lasting value to your home.

Solid wood

Solid wood makes up the core of Andersen’s 400 Series Windows, as part of the company’s patented Perma-Shield® system. You can choose from up to 6 interior wood options in the 400 Series. All window styles include the choice between factory-painted white or unfinished stain-grade pine interiors. Additionally, on select styles you can opt for maple or oak wood species as well as dark bronze or black finishes.

For more information on wood choices, check out Andersen’s 400 Series product guide.

Whatever your choice, the solid wood interiors of your 400 Series Windows will stand strong, reflecting timeless elegance in your home for years to come.

Fibrex® composite material

Andersen builds 400 Series window trims using Fibrex® composite material. As an Andersen Windows original, Fibrex® is a composite material made from wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer. The material provides more flexibility than fiberglass with double the strength of vinyl and 700 times the thermal control!

Beyond superior performance, Fibrex®  also supports Andersen’s commitment to sustainability. Andersen minimizes waste by utilizing reclaimed wood fibers from Andersen’s production processes to create Fibrex®.

Benefits of Fibrex

The 400 Series offers 11 trim colors designed as an effortless complement to your preferred exterior color. Trim colors are blended directly into Fibrex® during production for eye-catching hues that won’t fade, crack, or peel.

The trim system is designed for easy installation as an entirely separate component from the Perma-Shield® water management system. In fact, installation only takes about five minutes! A unique attachment strip eliminates the need for nails, visible fasteners, or sealant joints. What results is a securely fitted trim on your home with stylish, clean lines.

Eco-friendly, energy saving glass

Andersen has been awarded multiple times by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy as ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year–Sustained Excellence. The company’s commitment to energy efficiency benefits homeowners and the planet alike, setting the standard for window companies across the country.

Eco-friendly Andersen 400 Series Windows

With the 400 Series you can choose glass with varying capabilities for insulation, light filtering, and visibility. All choices offer superior energy efficiency that lowers your bills and environmental footprint at the same time.

Low-E4® glass is a great overall choice for Minnesota climates. In addition to energy efficiency applicable both to heating and cooling your home, Low-E4® glass allows for ample light filtering and strong UV Protection. Add HeatLock® Coating for increased capacity to prevent heat from escaping.

SmartSun™ glass provides even stronger thermal control and UV Protection than Low-E4® glass. Andersen compares the thermal protection of SmartSun™ glass to tinted glass, with enhanced capacities if you choose HeatLock® Coating. SmartSun™ glass may be a good option for south-facing windows that receive many hours of direct sunlight.

PassiveSun® glass is another good choice for Minnesota climates. The glass allows the sun’s heat to pass through and keep your home warm and cozy.

Clear Dual-Pane glass offers the highest visibility of any 400 Series glass options, with basic thermal performance.

Art Glass provides patterned, colored glass based on designs from the 19th and 20th centuries. The 400 Series includes five historic options plus two artisan designs. You can customize your design choosing from 14 colors, 6 jewels, or your choice of clear, clear antique, or semi-privacy glass.

Additional options can add privacy and security to your windows. Laminated glass reduces noise and increases strength to prevent breakage. Patterned glass obscures visibility without sacrificing light, and the patterns add visual appeal.
