Richlin Window at a glance

Richlin Window at a glance

Maintenance-free beauty that won’t degrade, warp, or crack

Richin windows are made from solid vinyl. Vinyl is an affordable and durable material that withstands exposure to sunlight, precipitation, temperature extremes, and contact with other objects. As a result, vinyl windows retain their color, texture, and shape for years.

These qualities make vinyl the most popular choice in the U.S. for windows. In fact, Home Innovation Research Labs reports that vinyl is chosen at about twice the rate of the second most popular material in new construction and remodeling:

  • Nearly 60% of new single family dwellings choose vinyl windows

  • Vinyl is the choice for about 50% of repair, replacement, and remodeling projects

Richlin stands out for creating vinyl windows in custom colors and woodgrain styles that offer similar visual characteristics to natural wood–without the maintenance or risks of water damage.

By choosing Richlin vinyl windows for your home, you earn one of the best resale values of any home project. Remodel Magazine’s Cost vs. Value Report shows that vinyl window replacements return an average of 67% of the cost during resale.

You can save even more money by opting for triple glazed glass. Triple glazed glass conserves more energy than double pane and reduces your energy bills. According to a study in the PNNL Home Labs, triple-pane glass “provided year-round energy savings and reduced peak demand both in the heating and cooling seasons.” Even more, triple-pane glass also reduces condensation, supports even room temperatures near windows, and reduces exterior noise pollution.

We’ll share more about Richlin’s energy efficiency later in the article. First, let’s look into the materials that help to make your Richlin windows such a great investment.

Materials

Vinyl coated in AquaSurTech exterior

Aquasur Tech windows

Richlin window exteriors are made from top-grade vinyl with AquaSurTech color coating. AquaSurTech is a water-based coating system that offers year-round protection against:

  • Precipitation

  • Heat

  • Temperature fluctuations

  • Light exposure

With Richlin vinyl windows coated in AquaSurTech, you’re getting a quality product backed up by research and testing in the field. In fact, AquaSurTech meets the rigorous international standards set by the FGIA and ASTM.

Depending on the window style, you can choose from an array of color options. All windows include the option of solid white or beige exteriors. You may also have the choice of up to eleven standard paints and laminates, or choose a custom paint color for unlimited choices and a perfect match.

Top-grade vinyl or Dura Wood stainable vinyl interior

Richlin window interiors can be made of top-grade vinyl solid white or beige, for a timeless complement to your rooms.

You can also opt for your Richlin window interiors to be made from Dura Wood stainable interior. Dura Wood is a unique material that looks nearly identical to natural wood while providing the resilience of vinyl. Dura Wood is versatile, too: choose from six standard options or a custom stain that reflects your unique style.

Vinyl colors: white and beige
Durawood vinyl colors: custom, black, brown, clay, white, black laminate, cherry, dark oak, light oak, burgundy, bronze, sable, green, beige, bronze laminate, pecan, maple, stainable

Whether you choose solid top-grade vinyl or Dura Wood stainable interiors, your Richlin Windows will be nearly maintenance-free, designed to last for years and enhance the sense of welcome whenever you walk into the room.

For enhanced architectural style, choose from a spectrum of internal grids or simulated divided lites (SDL). Richlin offers up to 20 options that can be combined on the interior or exterior of your windows. By choosing internal grids or SDLs, you can create added curb appeal without sacrificing energy efficiency.

Richlin Window grids and SDLs

Choose from six standard grid patterns or customize a look all your own!

You can also elevate your interiors by choosing from seven jamb extension options. Richlin gives you the choice between factory installed jamb extensions or install kits, both of which can fit wall depths up to seven inches. Choose from solid white, five natural woodgrains, or Dura Wood stainable interior for a custom finish.

Series and styles for unlimited design potential

Richlin offers five window series with standard and custom styles for unlimited design potential.

Richlin Vinyl vs. Heritage: which should I choose?

There are a few differences between Richlin Vinyl and Richlin Heritage windows. Both products offer maintenance-free designs, ample natural light, and protection from weather and noise.

If you’re looking for classic white or beige vinyl interior windows, consider Richlin Vinyl. You’ll still get plenty of customizable options for exteriors, grid patterns and styles, casing, and more. Depending on the type of window you choose, Richlin Vinyl offers several series to choose from. The main difference between series is the thickness and strength of the frame.

For added customization, consider Richlin Heritage windows. You can opt for stainable Dura Wood interiors that perfectly match your interiors or existing woodwork–with the lasting durability of vinyl.

If you want more information on the best series for you, contact SMA Exteriors. Consultations and estimates are always free.

Direct set vs. sash set

You can choose from direct set or sash set windows for many Richlin window styles. Direct set windows are made from glass directly glazed into the window frame, while sash set windows have glass glazed into a sash. Direct set windows are always fixed (non-venting), but sash set windows can either be venting or fixed.

Direct Set versus Sash Set

Both choices offer added light and expanded views, such as through a transom window. Yet each choice offers different advantages:

Direct set

  • Available in 201, 500, 600, 900 Series Vinyl and Heritage

  • Minimalist aesthetic with no visible sash

  • Replacement more involved

Sash set

  • Available in 201, 900 Series Vinyl and Heritage

  • Traditional aesthetic with visible sash

  • Easy to remove and replace

Earth-friendly, energy efficient windows

Energy Efficient windows

Richlin Window has a strong commitment to responsible stewardship and energy efficiency. As part of Richlin’s “reduce, reuse, recycle” philosophy, the company recycles byproducts from manufacturing. Richlin also engineers window components that maximize efficiency, including Duralite® spacer bars as standard in all windows.

Richlin holds the following certifications related to sustainability and energy efficiency:

  • ENERGY STAR® compliant

  • National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) certified

  • Federation and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) (Formerly AAMA) certified

Glass options

With Richlin Window you have the choice of three energy-efficient, earth-friendly glass options. All three options provide the same great light filtration, resistance to heat gain, and low air leakage properties. The key difference between your three glass options is the U-Factor number.

U-Factor describes the heat retention performance of a glass window product. For better heat retention, look for a lower U-Factor number.

  • Double Glazed Low-E Argon: 0.27

  • Triple Glazed Low-E Argon: 0.24

  • Triple Glazed Low-E Krypton: 0.19

The Minnesota Department of Energy Resources recommends windows with a U-Factor of 0.30 or less. Whichever glass you choose from Richlin Window, you’ll exceed standards for energy efficiency in a Midwestern climate.

For more efficiency data including optional extras like foam, consult Richlin’s product guide.

Glass styles

Richlin Window gives you more options with glass to enhance privacy, light allowance, and design aesthetics. You can choose from the following options:

  • Standard

  • Tempered

  • Obscure, tempered opt.

  • Niagra, tempered opt.

  • Gray tint, tempered opt.

  • Decorative

If you want control over privacy and light filtration, you can also opt for blinds between glass.
